FAYE JOHNSON, BIRTH DOULA

My Doula Story
I have been a baby lover since day one. My love for babies had me babysitting at age 7 (with mom’s supervision of course), and led me to becoming a Doula by the age of 12, supporting numerous family members.
After my second child was born, I became a breast-feeding educator because I noticed that there wasn’t enough support around for me when I had either of my babies, and wanted to be able to give other families the help, support and encouragement that I wish that I had. I now have three boys of my own, ages 7, 9, and 13. I work part time in a barber shop while I’m not helping out in the delivery room.

A little bit about Faye
In my spare time I love creating new things with my sewing machine, though with 3 growing boys I’m finding less and less spare time for myself. I’ve made ring slings for myself when my kids were babies and for many friends that wanted to baby-wear their little ones. I love making outfits for my boys as well as for myself.
I also crochet and am learning to knit. I find it so rewarding to finish a project and show it off to everyone by being able to wear it, whatever it may be. From crocheting fingerless gloves, to sewing a cocktail dress for an evening out.
My boys all play hockey so they usually take up all my spare time nowadays. I love summertime the most because I enjoy being outside with them but every season has its highlights for us.
