ANNA KREINER, BIRTH DOULA
Birth Doula, Ann Arbor Doulas | email@example.com
My Doula Story
Throughout my life, I have always had a passion for supporting others, and my interest in birth started at a young age with library camp-outs reading everything I could about the origins of life. I spent several of my adolescent years in The Netherlands, listening to the stories of women and their experiences of pregnancy and parenthood in different countries. This interest has grown into a passion for community healing, education, and empowerment that I continue to fulfill through birth work, and working with teens to process poverty-based trauma. I received my Bachelor’s in Microbiology with a minor in Spanish Language from the University of Michigan. Through my work as a doula I continue to combine my love for biology, birth work, and my love for supporting others into one life-giving package.
I have been a birth doula since 2016, after viewing the documentary “The Business of Being Born.” My shock at how maternity care is treated in the U.S motivated me to explore ways to transform birth into an empowering experience rather than one of fear, and I have since fallen in love with birth work. I have been fortunate enough to support parents from many diverse backgrounds through natural, VBAC, Cesarean, and adoptive births. I fully believe that each parent deserves a positive and empowering labor experience. It is my priority as a doula to make sure that my clients have access to knowledge, resources, and support (both physical and emotional) that validate their experiences and identities, uplift their voices, and help them work towards creating the birth experience they envision. I know pregnancy and birth can be overwhelming because there is so much information coming from all directions. As a birth doula, my job is to help you navigate this process to obtain the clarity and information you need to make informed decisions, and know that both you and your baby are in good hands. During the birth itself I create a calm, trusting atmosphere while also making sure everyone in the birth team feels affirmed, respected, safe, and supported. After your baby is born I will help you settle in and start breastfeeding (if that is part of your plan), and we will meet twice afterwards so that I can provide you with support in adjusting to your new role! I have seen the life-changing influence that compassionate and non-judgmental support can create, and I hope to help you navigate your journey through pregnancy and into parenthood smoothly and with confidence.

A little bit about Anna
When I’m not supporting families through pregnancy and delivery, you can find me spending time with my family, friends and pets. Lately I have really enjoyed crocheting stuffed animals because I love seeing projects come to life from what was once just yarn and fabric. I used to be part of a dance crew in college, so my best friend and I still choreograph dances to stay active outside of work. I also enjoy kicking back with a nice cup of tea, my favorite Netflix shows (particularly Friends), and my cat when I have downtime!
